Konjufca as mayor in Brussels: Speaking to counterparts from Western Balkans about isolation of Kosovars

The European Parliament has remained the staunch defender of the European perspective of the Western Balkans, said Republic of Kosovo Parliament Speaker Glauk Konjufca, at the summit of the Western Balkan Parliamentary Speakers, which is being held in Brussels.
Kosovo Republic Speaker Glauk Konjufca is participating in the Western Balkan Parliament Speakers Summit, which is being held in Brussels.
During this summit, organised and headed by European Parliament President David Maria Sussol, except for chief Parliamentary President Konjufca, the leaders of the Western Balkan countries, the chiefs of political groups, as well as European Parliament reporters for the Western Balkans are participating.
In the works of this summit, among the main issues under discussion are parliamentary co-operation and Europe's future, with particular emphasis on its enlargement process.
Addressing participants at this summit, the chairman of the Republic of Kosovo Assembly, Konjufca, after thanking President Susssol for the initiative to hold this summit, and his commitment to the European perspective of the Western Balkans, among other things, stressed: “We in the Western Balkans know the importance of the European Project. Since the end of the wars of the 1990 ' s, the European Integration Process has led our society toward democracy and economic development. Our society has built independent institutions, pluralistic media and active civil society”.
Following his speech, Chief Prime Minister Konjufca -- ahead of those present -- underlined the success of the Kosovo election process, and said that after the Parliament's institution, Kosovo will soon have the new Government.
Speaking to our country and the challenges leading it to the journey towards European integration, Parliament head Konjufca said: ” Kosovo is facing numerous challenges in its European path. Despite reaching a Stabilisation and Association Agreement, we have not moved towards candidate country status. It has been 96 months since we started the dialogue on visa liberalisation, and today we remain the only country that has not been freed from the visa regime in the Schengen area”, Kosovo Assembly Speaker Konjufca said, and underlined also that, it is very disappointing for Kosovo citizens, the feeling of being isolated.
In his address with this case, Chief Parliamentary Konjufca also spoke of dialogue with Serbia, which he said we fully understand the importance of good neighbourly relations and remain committed to dialogue with Serbia, which is eased by the EU. In this regard, he declared that the new government will take significant steps in this direction.
He also spoke of citizens' expectations of the new government. Chief Parliamentary Konjufca, praised and said ahead of those present that citizens expect concrete results in fighting corruption and resolving the remaining issues with Serbia and improving economic prosperity.
Speaking of EU enlargement, the integration of Western Ballakin states, Kosovo Assembly head Konjufca, respectively, praised:” We encourage the opening of negotiations as soon as possible on Albania and Northern Macedonia membership talks. We believe that Zagreb's summit for the Western Balkans will be very important for that purpose”.
At the end of his speech, Chief Prime Minister Konjufca said: “I fully understand that we are not at an easy time for Europe to believe in the power of the enlarged Union, but belief in the right things in difficult times is what distinguishes a bold state representative from opportunist politician”, praised Kosovo Republic Parliament Speaker Glauk Konjufca, at the summit of the Western Balkan Parliament Speakers.
