This year alone, the Food and Veterina Agency has closed three meat and milk processing factories and three restaurants because it has had doubts about poisoning consumers.
The food they had eaten almost cost life to some of the inhabitants of Drenas. About 80 residents of this municipality were poisoned by food ordered at one of the city's dishes on the evening of May 18th of this year.
They were allegedly poisoned by the double and the meat served that evening.
In this case, police had launched investigations until the bar was provisionally closed. But this is not the only bar that has been locked up because of doubt of poisoning.
Food and Veterina Agency officials have told the newspaper that more than 15 locals have been closed in the past two years.
AUV spokesman Lamir Thaci has indicated that three businesses have been closed this year alone, until he said businesses that have been meat and milk processing factories, as well as restaurants.
This year, three subjects have been closed, which have not improved hygieno-sanitary conditions. As subjects that have been closed are meat and milk processing factories, as well as storage of importative subjects”, he said.
There were bars closings last year.
“over the past year temporarily closed 11 subjects. Also, during this year we have closed three hotel business subjects with the reason that there have been doubts in poisoning and after verification and analysis, continued with other legal procedures”, Thaci's answers are said.
Thaci says the objects remain closed until irregularities are eliminated, until he has said the main reason for closure in most cases are hygiene-sanitary conditions.
“The reason for closure are hygieno-sanitary conditions and the potential risk that, in case of non-improvement, comes up to poisoning consumers. We have cases of a single product being denied in the processing factories, which has been found to be out of order in terms of microbiological criteria and allowed to market with that product only after taking corrective measures and results of laboratory analysis, where the product has been found to be consistent with regulations for microbiological criteria”, Thaci said.
