Over 1,000 administration employees in Kosovo courts and prosecutors from tomorrow will start the strike at the request: The involvement in the law as a civil servant with special status, cofficient at the value of 25 percent contrast with other civil servants, is paid an additional 50 euros every three months, as well as several demands. Kosovo Independent Judicature Union Chairman Bahri Jashari told Radio Kosovo that the decision to start the suspended strike months ago was taken to the helm and that the same will not be stopped until all their demands are realised.
A judge has a salary of over 2,500 euros, while a legal official working with him has a 35-euro salary. We're asking that the cofficients with the new wage law differ 25 percent from other civil servants so that the faculty cofficient is not below 2.3 from now on and no discrimination is made. The nature of working in courts and prosecutors is a specific, laboring, custody job, and so far we have no benefits from anybody, he said.
Jashari said the union has announced all institutions, but so far there has been no confirmation to discuss with representatives of responsible institutions, so work will be blocked throughout Kosovo courts and prosecutors.
If the initial requirements are not met, the strike will continue until the Judiciary Council, the Prosecutorial Council, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Finance will be convinced that the demands of court administration workers and prosecutors are reasonable and legitimate”, he said.
Meanwhile, representatives of responsible institutions, such as the Ministry of Finance, Justice and the Government of Kosovo, contacted by Radio Kosovo, have given no answers to these requirements.
