Any sudden death in custody should be followed by a quick, impartial, full and transparent investigation conducted by an independent body to clarify the cause of death”, said Rupert Colville, spokesman for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
Morsi, a key member of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood, won Egypt's first free presidential election in 2012, writes Die Welt forwards the Kosova Clan.
After only a year in office, he was brought down and imprisoned in a bloody military coup, led by then Defence Minister and current President Abdel Fetal el-Assi.
He was sentenced to 48 years in total prison terms in four of his open judgments, while the trial process continued on two other cases for Morsin.
