Kosovo is a very good example of co-existence of some communities in one country. As the Turkish community in Kosovo strengthens ties with Turkey, the free trade agreement will soon be linked.
So said at a Kosovo Government event, organised in honour of Turkish Community Day, where good reports between this community and the rest of society were highlighted.
In this case, Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj said this day serves as a good moment to reflect on the good relations the two countries have.
According to him, the Turkish community's decision-making role has advanced in Kosovo, as it indicated it felt honored that on the national day of Turks have joined in today.
The Turkish people of Kosovo are a bridge connecting the Republic of Serbia, and the result of this Republic of Kosovo has very good co-operation with the Republic of Turkey and we thank the Republic of Turkey for maintaining peace with KFOR, economic, political support. As chairman of the Government, I am engaged to be a good colleague with the entire Turkish community in Kosovo, and I am also committed to daily addressing requests and topics related to the lives of Kosovo Turks”, he said.
And to congratulate the Turkish community on the day, a delegation from Turkey has come to Kosovo, which participated in the event organised by the Kosovo government today.
Turkey's Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Faruk Kaymakci said Kosovo is a very good example of co-existence of some communities in one country.
Even though it is a small country, Kaymacki said Kosovo is a very good example.
“-six stars on Kosovo's flag represent Kosovo quarries. And, all those Kosovo stars, we are glad to see them living here peacefully. The Turkish community in Kosovo is a bridge between the Turkish community in Turkey and we want this bridge to strengthen even more. We hope that all Balkan peoples will join the EU and NATO. Turkey as an EU candidate supports this process... We want to make the Free Trade Agreement with Kosovo, in a near future because there is great potential. We will support the formation of the Kosovo Army”, he said.
His congratulations on this day have also expressed Minister of Public Administration in Kosovo Mahir Jagcilar, who spoke of supporting the Turkish community of Kosovo, as he said the Turkish community is grateful for the support of the state of Kosovo.
Kosovo has the will to support all Kosovo communities, good legal infrastructure exists. But there is a need to implement better laws and support through projects such as drafting development strategies for all communities apart, better use of native languages, direct support for education in Turkish and other languages, building cultural centres for the Turkish community, supporting and subsidies for businesspeople and farmers, and also the right employment”, he said.

While MP Myfera Shinik said she will try to carry the Turkish community's day to Kosovo in generations.
