This, according to field professionals, is comparable to developed countries worldwide.
Despite this, this mortality rate is intended to decrease even more, as by Thursday, the Kosovo University Hospital Clinic Service will begin implementing the project to treat acute heart attack within two hours of patients from all over Kosovo.
Through this measure, it is estimated that within 120 minutes the patient's heart muscle will be saved and saved from disability, since it is considered that the world's greatest struggle is to reach the patient within the first two hours of heart attack.
This project comes at the time of the train of growing cardiovascular diseases, health professionals have said.
Basri Sejdiu, General Director of the University Clinical Hospital Service of Kosovo, announced that with this project Kosovo will pass the countries of the region into health, while it will equalise with European countries.
“Brend 120 minutes is saved by patient's heart muscle and saved by disability. The world's greatest struggle is for the patient to reach the doctor within the first two hours. Now with two catheterisation halls and trained doctors, it's time that heart treatment can take place within two hours of”, Sejdiu said.
Health Minister Uran Ismaili, speaking of Radio Free Europe, said the programme for treating acute heart attack within two hours is a good thing since Thursday has started to be implemented initially in Pristina, and then distributed to all other Kosovo countries.
This project will be funded by the Luxembourg government.
It will be a service to protect citizens from heart attack. Actually, there's a direct line between the health centers with the terciare, that's the QKUK. The heart attack is announced when the patient is informed wherever he is, and the information goes directly to cardiology and becomes almost anything until the patient arrives. And we're thinking about doing this in two hours, Ismaili said.
By contrast, at the University Clinical Centre in Kosovo, according to cardiologist Tefik Bektesh, director of the Invasive Cardiology and Cardiosurgy Clinic, 2,517 choreography was carried out last year, 1,370 statistics procedures, and acute heart attack was intervened in 908 cases.
In addition, the year 2018 has closed with 212 open - heart heart operations at the cardiodrogy clinic, which is already operating 24 hours 7 days a week.
Last year at QKUK, we worked 908 acute heart attacks within 12 hours of the moment of pain in patients. This programme is aimed at conscious of patients but also of medical staff not within 12 hours, but within two hours and the effects to be as good as possible. We don't have long-term mortality data, so 30 days or 6 months, but mortality in hospitals is less than 4 percent that is a good result. But with the quickest achievement of patients to us these deaths will be further reduced, Bekteshi said.
In contrast, according to Minister Ismaili about 3 thousand people, or 35 percent of all deaths within Kosovo within the year, are caused by heart disease.
For any 30 - minute delay after a heart attack, the risk of mortality increases by 7.5 percent. With a 24-hour heart disease and heart injury service at KKUK, and now this programme, Ismaili says, will significantly enhance citizens' chances for survival.
The programme is expected to take place in three phases, and work on its implementation will begin immediately.
