Former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic will hear the latest trial for his role in the bloody conflict that destroyed the country a quarter century ago, Periscopi translates.
In one of the last remaining cases of war crimes trials in the former Yugoslavia, The Hague judges will decide on Karadzic's appeal to the 2016 decision on genocide and war crimes following a 40-year sentence.
The 73-year-old, once the strongest political figure of Bosnian Serbs, was well-known for his role in the 1995 Srebrenica massacre, the largest European bloodshed after World War II.
Nearly 100,000 people died and another 2 million and two hundred thousand were homeless in the brutal three-year fight between Muslims, Serbs and Croats fighting each other.
I think this verdict is historic for justice,” said Munira Subasq, of the Association of Mothers of Srebrenica, adding that they wanted Karadzic to be sentenced to life imprisonment. /Periscopi
