Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdogan has criticised “the US's” action over the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul months ago.
He told the Turkish state broadcaster, TRT, on February 3rd, he doesn't understand the “the US” after the event happened.
“We want to explain everything because there has been a cruelty, a murder. Kashogg's murder is not the norm”, he has indicated.
Khashoggi, a prominent critic of the Saudi government who lived in the United States, was killed at the Saudi consulate on October 2nd of last year.
His body hasn't been found yet.
Saudis initially denied the killing of Khashogg at the consulate, but after powerful data and international condemnation, they have accepted the murder, saying it has been the result of a <x0-comperation tough”.
However, Riyadh has denied claims that Saudi prince Mohammad Bin Salman has been linked to the murder.
US President Donald Trump has said he opposes imposing sanctions on Saudi leadership, and has pledged to maintain co-operation, not risking economic ties, which could potentially strain ties between the two states.
