Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjorn Yalgand said today that a final agreement between Serbia and Kosovo could give the latter the opportunity to become a new member of this important European organisation.
If there is agreement, then there is a new situation/momentum”, he said in an answer to Klan Kosova, in Helsinki on Tuesday.
Jagland said he believes that this moment, then, the EC member states that have not accepted Kosovo will take into account.
What remains, after a new potential development, according to Jagland, is respect for normal procedures for accession to the Council of Europe of a new member.
Jagland made these comments on a media presentation, following a meeting with Finnish Foreign Minister Timo Soini, when the two completed their opening speeches at the high-level conference for the impact of artificial intelligence on human rights, democracy and rule of law.
This conference is being held in Helsinki, while Klan Kosova is covering it at the invitation of the Finnish Foreign Ministry/ Finnish Embassy in Pristina.
