One person has been arrested by Australian police because of panic-making at Brisbane International Airport, threatening people with knives and saying he owns a bomb. This situation has caused several flights and several train lines to be canceled.
Police from Queensland region have confirmed that the suspected person has been sent to the police station for questioning after police had previously conducted security checks at the airport terminal. There is no evidence that the incident at the airport is linked to international terrorism. This case is related to internal issues”, the police communiqué said.
The drama first began at the departure department, where police evacuated the airport travelers and workers. There's no one on the scene but the police. Airplane flights and train movements have already been suspended for the time being”, police say.
Police authorities announced the emergency situation at the airport about nine o'clock local time and closed in two hours. I was sitting at the airport exit and I saw a lot of women screaming and running toward the exit. When I got up, I saw a tall man holding a big knife”, said one of the witnesses, writes “Brisbane Times”.
