Nearly 1,000 and 900 students abandoned school in one year

Major population outreachs from rural to urban countries, going out of Kosovo to EU countries, and the decline of nightiness have caused many Kosovo municipal schools in rural areas to remain fewer students, even some of them to close. Only during these months of 2019 are they [...]

Just during these months of 2019, several students have been shown social networking from schools where they have attended school, where most of them because of the family union -- going to EU countries with families.

During 2017/2018 according to August statistics, 1870 students have abandoned lessons for family, social and other factors.

As seen on this chart, 228 have been the number of students who have abandoned school in elementary and lower education, and 1642 high education.

But the school's largest dropout was in 2009/2010. According to these statistics, the number of students who have dropped out of school in elementary and lower education is 1920, while high school is abandoned by 3 thousand and 208 students.

This number has dropped in the years that followed in 2010/2011 the number of those who dropped out of school is 4620.

This number has since dropped 1408 in 2014, down from over five thousand before.

A written answer by August says that the biggest drop is Peja, and then I bloody.

However, it is stressed that the report on school dropouts is not enough from municipalities.

According to reports in SMI, Peja's biggest dropout, then Gjakova, Fushe Kosova and Prizren, but we know that reporting is not enough from municipalities. There are municipalities that haven't reported at all while they have abandoned students”, said their response.

However, according to Kosovo Centre for Education Director Dukagjin Pupovci, the dropout rate in Kosovo compared to European countries is lower.

He noted that contrary to what the situation was like at the beginning of the century, there is now a significant advantage, especially in girls.

“Scala of abandoning schooling in Kosovo is lower than in each European country: 0.1% in mandatory education and 1.8% in higher secondary education. In the case of compulsory education, this represents a significant advantage in relation to the early situation of the century when abandoning has been a phenomenon in some areas of the country, especially among girls. The dropout in higher education mostly happens in boys because of economic causes and I think it would be bigger if there were more employment opportunities, as this is what happens in all developed countries. So it's not about any alarming situation, but schools have to fight for each student”, Popovci said.

According to him, official statistics report that around 5% of children aged 6-14 are out of mandatory education.

“Arsyet for this should be analysed, since this has not been done so far. It may be that the problem is to move families abroad or to the late registration of some children in the first grade. Or there may even be errors in statistics because of the incorrect assessment of the population”, he said, among other things.

Macedonian officials have said that the reasons for abandoning school by both genders are mostly social and family, but also individual.

But if we treat all the factors in general that affect drop out of schooling, it's like the following: Individual factors such as various diseases, limited capabilities, early marriage, low family support, involvement in negative phenomena, drug use, individual access to education, etc. Family factors such as lack of parental adequate care (without both parents and divorces), parent education level, family cultural mentality, non-co-operation/uninhibitment of the family with the circle (especially of migrate families); children as family holders, etc. School factors as a geographical position of schools -- especially during travel to mountainous areas, reliefs and vice versas, students and students (unequivales, unfair assessments, violence, misuse of information technology, etc.), lack of professional services in dealing with problems within school, inadequate school co-operation with social services and factors, including social/poverence problems, inadequate inter-incentive co-operation, and the community, negative phenomena, within society, agriculture, migrations, and the responses of the Balkans are said.

Indexline was answered several months ago by almost all the education directors in municipalities, which confirm the decline in the number of students and even the closure of many parallels in urban countries. /Indesksonline/
