Becirovic stresses that an atmosphere has been created that does not support continuing dialogue.
The director of the Ljubljana Institute said he does not believe talks between Belgrade and Pristina will continue for at least six months.
“as soon as the Kosovo government is formed, intensive informal election campaigns will already be held in Serbia, so that at least in the first half of 2020, it is not possible to expect a continuation of the” dialogue, Becirovic said of the Serbian portal “kosovo Online”, broadcast the news.net.
He estimated that the initiative for “Mini-Sengen” has been the most important decision for the region in the last 30 years.
“If realised, Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq and Northern Macedonia Prime Minister Zoran Zaev will be the heroes of our time. The Balkan coalition led by conservative Vucik and Social Democrat Zaev reminds me of the alliance of civilisations launched in 2005 by then Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Spain's Jose Luis Rodriguez Sapatero. It is not surprising, therefore, that there is a highly intense hybrid war fighting against Vuciqi and Zaev, which will intensify as parliamentary elections approach Serbia and northern Macedonia”, he stressed.
He has also spoken of the Special Court and former KLA leaders who have been invited by this court.
According to Beciroviki, the Special Court is a test for the international community and that this court has not had to be formed because Kosovo has its own justice system.
“See, Kosovo has a national judiciary, an EULEX mission, the Kosovo case has also been at The Hague tribunal. Then why was a special court and a prosecution established? Special Court is a test for the international community. This still spends taxpayers' money, mainly from the EU and the US. That includes the individual responsibility of the suspects, while suspects link him to the KLA and Kosovo to portray themselves as victims”, Becirovic said, further broadcasts news.net.
In this interview, Becirovic has dismissed the possibility of several major riots in Kosovo, as suspects and defendants have held hostage and citizens out of fear and deprivation for nearly two decades, and pursuing them will be a pleasure for most Kosovo citizens.
Becirovic believes the European perspective of the Western Balkans is less certain than it was a few years ago, but that according to him, the EU must change its approach and policy towards the region and enlargement.
“Insisting for new conditions can cause some countries to change their geopolitical orientation. It is not surprising, therefore, that many countries in the region are intensively developing co-operation with other countries, and that the EU is pushing Balkan countries to “embracing” of several other countries and areas of interest with their enlargement policy”, Becirovic stressed.
