The Syrian and Turkish Armed Forces have fought between themselves on Tuesday for the first time since the beginning of the Turkish offensive against Kurds in the first part of this month. On the other hand, Russian forces said Kurds have withdrawn from the border zone.
The security situation deteriorated when Turkish forces and Syrian forces began attacking each other with heavy artillery, making it difficult to implement the plan between Turkey and Russia for joint patrol across the border.
Syrian Human Rights Monitor reported that between Turkish and Syrian armies there have been fierce fighting, adding that six Syrian soldiers have been killed near the Syrian border town of Ras al-Ain.
“Five Syrian soldiers were killed in the battle near the village of Assadiya”, Rami Abdel Rahman, chairman of this organisation, adding that the Syrian rebels, supported by Turkey, have killed another Syrian regime soldier.
Otherwise, Turkey has said it will not hesitate to continue the military offensive in Syria, if it proves that Kurdish fighters are still in the border area.
Turkish and Russian forces had planned to begin joint patrols Tuesday, but the clash with the Syrian military appears to have postponed this plan, writes “France24”,
