Botticelli surprised again, the pomegranate in Christ's hand hid a heart

Nearly five centuries away, Botticelli continues to surprise us. This time on his top “La Manona della melagrana”, today in the “museum Uffysz di Firenze”, the artist has presented the anatomy of the heart within the fruit that Jesus holds children, right on the left of his chest. Where the discovery has been reached by a published study [...]
Where the find was reached by a study published in the scientific magazine “Interactive CardioVassular and Terracic Surgery” by the surgeon's group and art medical expert Davide Lazazer.
“The composition of seeds in the peeled fruit paints the two arteries in the heart, the two intestines and the main lung trunk”, Lazier explains.
And the pomegranates' crown is divided into two parts that imitate the upper hollow vein and the aorta bow with its three branches”, he points out.
According to scholars, it is possible that this inspiration was born from his friend Leonardo Da Vinci's anatomical paintings.
Previous studies had revealed that Botticelli had hidden the anatomical details of the lungs in his two most famous works, “Spring” and “Venus born”.
