By stopping jobs on Decan Street Plav, law was respected

The Kosovo Council for Cultural Heritage explains through a response that the break-up of jobs on the road that will connect Kosovo with Montenegro through the Decani Greca, in the special protected area of the Decani Monastery, is the act with which the Republic of Kosovo's ruling legislation is respected and not the triumph of any particular subject.

Decani Monastery is one of four (4) monuments found in the Republic of Kosovo and is included on the list of U cultural heritage NESTO, as the shared wealth of all humanity. As a most universal monument protected by the Republic of Kosovo under cultural heritage laws and international conventions, the Kosovo Council for Cultural Heritage recalls.
The Decani Monastery with the Ministry's proposal that Culture, Youth and Sports have been declared as a cultural heritage in permanent protection by the Kosovo Council for Cultural Heritage in 2016, and has been included in the list of cultural heritage assets in permanent protection by the Minister of Culture and Sports. In line with the Law on Special Protection Areas and the PKKTK decision, the Decani Monastery has a protected area of 839.60 ha.

Based on the Law on Protected Areas, Article 5 points a). These activities in separate protected areas are prohibited: <x0-structions or industrial developments, such as exploration and use of mineral resources and construction of dams, power plants or power lines, furnaces and factories and transit routes in rural areas; and b) construction or developments that lead to deforestation or pollution of the environment”. Also in the Law on Space Planning, Article 18, paragraph 4 prohibits these activities: “the construction of magistrateal and regional roads; construction of higher buildings and those that are not in harmony with existing neighboring buildings; development of heavy industry activity; the underground installation of electricity supply, telecommunications, digital transfers, etc.; activities and construction affecting drilling, alienation or environmental pollution; and urban and rural space planning from the local level of<3x>
Therefore, through this letter we want to inform the public opinion and the actors involved in this process that in concrete cases, we have to do more respect for legislation in power in the Republic of Kosovo, rather than triumphantly any particular subject.

In areas and protected areas, higher activity is prohibited, and today the Decani Monastery is a coincidence, and in the future we may have other bans on protected surfaces or areas around archaeological sites and other monuments of cultural heritage in the Republic of Kosovo, and all of this is in the spirit of international laws and conventions.
We ask responsible acts and institutions that are involved in such processes to be co-operative and inclusive, transparent and to inform public opinion directly and more time for all actions. The KKTK requires that cultural heritage be respected as shared wealth and value that serves all communities in the Republic of Kosovo, the Kosovo Council for Cultural Heritage concludes.
