“Reactions against Elez Blake may leave us without visas”

The special prosecutor's resignation, Elez Blakaj, clearly testifies that the justice system continues to be self-aware of politics and not independent. Thus, they estimate connoisseurs of political issues who say that recent developments about the “Blakaj” could harm the visa liberalisation process, writes “Zri”. Analysts remain sceptical [...]
Analysts remain sceptical whether the new prosecutor will handle the case following harsh statements that have come from institutions' leaders on the “Blakaj” case.
Political analyst Imer Mushkolaj has estimated that the work that prosecutor Blakaj has done would have to positively impact visa liberalisation, but it is the reactions of state leaders to this issue which negatively affects the visa process.
Because it has been dealt with a very sensitive issue, with claims to fan veterans' lists, that is, with claims of some kind of organised crime, and that would have to positively impact. But unfortunately the reactions then by the heads of state, the attacks on Blakay and all this created situation, I believe that negatively affects the liberalisation process”, he has declared for “Zin”.
Besides, according to him, the liberalisation process would also harm Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj's letter, through which he had given Blakaj 30 days to conduct investigations into veterans' files and report it.
So it's not just about undermining the process in terms of liberalisation, but the damage to the process in general, in the sense that the recent situation with the Blakaj prosecutor and the veterans' lists has shown us that the justice system unfortunately continues to be encapsulated by the” policy, Mushkolaj added.
So according to him, the main criterion for liberalisation and walking towards European integration, which is rule of law, there are many problems to meet with people at the helm of institutions who choose to attack prosecutors. “It takes as soon as this indictment goes to court and is seen in a fair and correct process, but I'm skeptical that such a thing could happen”, he has indicated.
