Birth Data
The gender-based birth data is provided by the Civil State General Directorate, which sends only the number of births of residents to INSTAT in Albania. All births of residents in Albania are considered during the reference period, not considering the births of residents outside Albania (immigrants), even though they can register at civil offices near their former residences.
Late Birth Records
A small overhaul of the number of births registered late for the current year is established in order to include all births in the reference period. The number of births registered late in the previous year are considered a proxy for late records of the current year, considering the assumption (as a result of our ongoing analysis) that the number of late birth records does not vary much year-on-year.
Deaths
Death Data
The death records are provided by the Civil State General Directorate according to basic demographic characteristics. All deaths of residents in Albania are considered during the reference period, not considering the deaths of residents outside Albania (immigrants), even though they can register at civil offices near their former residences.
Late Death Records
We make a small adjustment to the number of deaths registered late for the current year so that we can include all the deaths in the reference period. The number of deaths recorded late in the previous year is considered a proxy for late records of the current year, considering the assumption (as a result of our ongoing analysis) that the number of late death records does not vary much year-on-year.
