In 2026, Kosovars will be able to travel by train to European countries

The Minister of Infrastructure has indicated that in this year, works will begin for the first part, and in 2026, everything will be ready for travel and goods to other European countries

In 2026 the country will have the opportunity to travel by train to European countries.

That same year, Kosovo will finalise the modern railway infrastructure project, worth 194m euros.

The Minister of Infrastructure shows that the feasibility process has been completed, and within this year, rehabilitation of Elez's Kosovo- Han railway section will begin.

Next year, work is also expected from Hani Elez at the border with Macedonia, as well as from Fushe Kosova to the border with Serbia.

Lekaj says that to avoid any disagreement, he will meet with North Mitrovica Mayor Goran Rakic.

Tools for the project are guaranteed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development loan, as well as the European Investment Agency, worth 82.9m euros.

And 79.8m euros have been granted grants from the European Union.

The deadline for paying credit interest will be 20 years from the moment the investments begin.

Currently, railways from travellers most are used by Pristina for Pec, while for goods every morning there is a line to Skopje.
