Chief State Prosecutor Alexander Lumezi's statement, which questions the work of judges when it comes to judging corruption cases, has brought judges and prosecutors to war.
The Kosovo Judiciary Council on Monday has turned to the State Prosecutor, warning that it does not tolerate such an approach regarding the work of courts, Koha Ditore writes today.
One of the KRC members has said the State Prosecutor's charges that judges are not condemning powerful persons are the form to justify their failures with groundless accusations.
This institution has said that the PSH does not care why they are down 90 percent of the charges because, according to this institution, the prosecution is working solely on statistics. On the other hand, justice system monitors have estimated that the PSH under no circumstances has the right to issue such comments to the courts and that these statements are violating the independence of the courts.
After State Prosecutor's representatives have been hardened in recent months in reporting with Kosovo courts, when it comes to judging corruption cases, questions about these judgments have also been filed by State Chief Prosecutor Alexander Lumezi. A few days after his statements Monday, the KDP has called an emergency meeting on the case. Chief Prosecutor Lumezi, at the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council meeting (KPK), held on May 30th of this year, has blamed courts who are not passing charges involving important people who are charged with criminal acts of corruption.
