The Kosovo Board of Directors of Telecom for the selection of Gent Begolli, chief executive chief of the company, clearly shows the tendency of political parties to send their people to key tasks.
Kosovo's Board of Directors of Telecom has decided Gent Begolli to be chief executive in the company.
The organisation COHU has immediately reacted, saying Gent Begolli is a member of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), the former director of the Public Services Directorate in the Pristina municipality of this party in the previous mandate, while now, with unanimous votes, the executive chief in this company, which from interventions and politics, is ahead of bankruptcy.
“Begoll is not the only one that has ties to political parties or to policy people. Much of the Board of Directors also has to do with politics. It has been reported that Besa Shatri Berisha, wife of AAK MP Beka Berisha, have been selected on this board. Skender Hoti was co-operative of Fatmir Limaj, but has denied that he is part of the Social Democrat Initiative. Telekom board member Sead Ujkan is a friend of PDK deputy Mergim Lushtak, son of former Skyeraj Mayor Sami Lushtaku. Even past Kosovo Telkom boards have been with people who have had direct ties with political parties that have been in power”, the communique says.
Surveys conducted by COHU show that the arrival of a ruling political party immediately affected that party in employing people in high decision-making positions. Following the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), it is proving that the AAK, which is leading the government, is also doing it.
COHU considers that such selections will affect further degradation of Kosovo Telekom, the company that is heading towards bankruptcy.
