President Sergio Mattaralla has met with party leaders such as Louis Di Maio and Matteo Salbin on Monday, as the country approaches a popular government two months after the elections.
After his meeting with Mattarallan, Di Maio said he has nominated for prime minister Giseppe Cete, a 54-year-old professor and university professor with little political experience.
“We are proud of our choice, he will not anger the Italians”, Di Maio said.
The populist movement Five Stars and the anti-immigrant party agreed on a common platform for establishing the government last Friday.
The plan includes billions of euros in tax reduction, a return to pension reforms and a monthly basis income for the poor, causing fears in Europe that the country will not be able to bear financial responsibility, reports “Al Jazeera”, Periscope broadcast.
The policy plan also requires a mandatory shift scheme for immigrants among EU member states and deportation of about 500,000 illegal immigrants.
“We have agreed on the government leader and ministers, and we hope no one will veto a choice representing the will of most Italians”, Salvin said on Sunday.. /Persycopi/
