The European Union will enable 15,000 18-year-old youth to travel across Europe for free this summer, within a programme called “Dissaver EU”, the European Commission announced today.
The initiative came after a European Parliament proposal with a budget of 12m euros in 2018 to finance transportation tickets. The programme will open in June for applicants aged 18 and on July 1st through a website” European youth portal”.
The programme aims to provide 15,000 young people with the opportunity to travel across Europe this summer to discover the rich cultural heritage of the continent, establish contacts with other people, learn about other cultures, and discover what unites Europe, the European Commission announced in a statement.
Selective candidates should follow a default route, by train, by bus, even by ferry, or by plane in some cases. Their trip will last up to 30 days and will include from one to four foreign destinations, Atsh conveys.
The jury is responsible for the final selection of the first 150,000 beneficiaries, while a second wave of applications could be opened in the second quarter of the year, if financial resources remain.
More details about this initiative will be published in mid-May at” European youth portal”.
