Disputes over Thaci block government platform for dialogue

Differences within the coalition, but also rejection of the opposition in terms of President Hashim Thaci's leading role in dialogue with Serbia has caused the Parliament's Headship to fail to proceed for the government's Parliament on Dialogue with Serbia, Koha Ditore writes today. The Kosovo government more than a month ago has adopted the draft platform for finalising the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, which was handed over to the president and the Kosovo Assembly. This platform in the form of a draft resolution was reviewed at the Foreign Affairs Commission on May 4th 2018.
Although the Commission decided to proceed to Headship, it has not yet addressed it.
However, representatives of the ruling parties have denied that delays are due to a lack of consensus about the platform.
There are points that are delayed even longer than the moment it examines the Commission until they arrive at the PDK parliamentary group chief Memli Krasniqi's Chief of the Prosecutor's Assembly, said.
The PDK has called for a broader consensus on dialogue to be reached. For them, it presents no problem whether the final phase will lead President Hashim Thaci.
But, according to KDI, the Assembly so far is uninterested to give priority to Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
