About 160 soldiers of member states and non-NATO members have died in the last 19 years, mainly in accidents.
In 2006, 42 Slovak soldiers died in an air accident near the Hungarian-Slovaki border while returning to their country after serving in Kosovo.
“This is aimed at providing or showing the respect and thanks of the Government and the people of Kosovo for NATO and the separate states that have contributed to Kosovo's achievement and security preservation during all of these nearly two decades” have told Radio Free Europe Deputy Security Ministry Minister Burim Ramadani.
The inauguration of the memorial will take place by 12 June at “Mother Teresa” in Pristina.
In 1999, when the war ended, NATO had over 50,000 peacekeepers, while today there are about 4,500.
