Pristina is the capital of Kosovo, but its name has not been given to any of the 149 streets of the city of Gjilan, according to a list presented on the municipality website.
But Gjilan's name is more than confirmed in the capital. There are four roads bearing his name, in the territory of the capital, in the neighborhoods: Calabre, New Pristina, in Hyvalya and the Local Community in Caglavica, writes today “Koha Ditore”.
But it is not the only city whose name is the streets of Pristina. There are roads that bear the names of Ferizaj, Gjakova, Peja, Prizren, Ulcinj and Mitrovica. The latter holds a road in the center of the capital.
The use of city names for street names is not limited to the Kosovo context. The list of street names has also been joined by names of world capitals, such as: Skopje, Tirana, Zagreb, Istanbul, Vienna, Berlin, Budapest.
Not a small number of roads also bear the names of the various cities and villages of Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro and Chamber.
