Air strikes on PKK targets in northern Iraq, where the Kurdish group has its main base on Qandil Mountain near the Iranian border, have been conducted regularly since July 2015.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organisation in Turkey, the US and the EU. In the terrorist campaign against Turkey, which has lasted more than three decades, over 400,000 people, including women and children, have been killed.
