The Syrian crisis is extremely complex, so hard to find a reasonable explanation. Today, the conflict that may provoke a confrontation between Westerners and Russia has become almost undesirable. Syria is above all the main theatre of the battle of influence between the two currents of Islam, Rain and Sun and their respective Paladines, Iran and Saudi Arabia.
While a key region like the Middle East is divided between these two camps, major powers Russia, the United States, Turkey, the European Union are also inevitably involved. But let us try to see clearly.
It all started in 2011 with the Arab spring, which, after the Canaanites and the Egyptians, moved the Syrians to take to the streets. Syria's population called for freedom, democracy and rule of law -- all of which had not been taken from the ruling clan since the early eighty years: the Assad family, the alavite faith, a stream of Shii Islam, while most of the Syrians are Sunnit.
The first performers were peaceful, with women and children, without weapons. Yet, the regime decides to shoot at the crowd, with such violence, which broke out within a few months, where civil war appeared to be winning the rebels.
At that moment, Iran Shiite came to the aid of Bashar al Assad, while the Sunnit countries supported the rebels. Immediately, Syrian secret services released extremist Islamic prisoners from prison so that they could confront the rebels. But they made an alliance with the former officers of Saddam Hussein's army, with the objective of establishing a single Sunni state between Iraq and Syria.
Chaos
So the Islamic State group was born, a hint that the Syrian regime could use to say to the world: “We are the only alternative to them, now choose! ” After that came chaos.
By relying on Kurds, Westerners focused their attacks on the Islamic State. In 2013, Assad used chemical weapons against the population that supported the rebels.
Paris and Washington decided to punish this crime, but when Obama withdrew at the last minute, the Syrian regime thought he was already allowed everything. The Russians seized the opportunity to return and play a first-hand role in the Middle East, supporting Damascus.
Moscow's military intervention took place in 2015, and since then Westerners have seen the multiple war crimes committed by Assad, with the support of a Russia convinced there is no need to be afraid anymore. Initially the terrain of conflicts between Iranians and Saudis, today Syria is the theater of war between Russians and Westerners. / France Inter World.al
