It's an official date, a historic meeting. On 29 March 2019, after a year, the United Kingdom will have left the European Union. But this separation has never seemed as absurd as this week.

We compare the reactions of the European Union and the United States to the way Vladimir Putin allowed his secret services to use a chemical weapon in trying to kill a former secret agent in a small town of the United Kingdom.

Although the crime had been committed for several days, Donald Trump called Putin the next day of his re-election, not to mention the incident at all, as if it had nothing to do with the Russian president, as if it were not enough to wish him success in his next mandate.

Alliance in second place.

Despite the recommendations of American collaborators and diplomats, Trump praised Putin for the victory, as if he wanted to re-awaken the dream of a Russian-American understanding, at the expense of China and Europe.
Theresa May was markedly ignored by the president of a country whose primary ally is exactly the United Kingdom. What did the European Union do?

During the recent summit dedicated primarily to Brex, the French president and German Chancellor decided to expel several Russian diplomats, express their solidarity with London, urging other EU nations to do the same, thereby starting an international reaction on a scale that had never been seen, to such an issue as and imposing a change of direction on Donald Trump, because at this point Washington had no choice but to become part of that movement.

After a year, the United Kingdom will leave the European Union, but now we have confirmed that London has no other allies to believe in in in cases of difficulty. This is not the only lesson to be learned from these days.

The second lesson, in fact, is that in spite of all the predictions, what we call until yesterday <x0wm” has been recompatied, to remind Putin that he cannot pass any limit, without punishment. The third lesson is that the Western front has been significantly expanded since the end of the Cold War, and now includes former communist countries that have become part of the EU, such as Hungary and other countries, such as Ukraine, Moldova and Montenegro.

The fourth lesson is that in this crisis, the Union has taken over the Atlantic Alliance, imposing for the first time as a heavy actor, on the international stage. / France Inter World.al
