Ikionomidis: Normalising reports with Kosovo is in Serbia's best interests

Greek professor Spiro Ikonomidis, who legalises at London's School of Economics and Political Science, has said no one will ask Serbia to recognise Kosovo in at least a near future. However, according to him, it is important that the two countries continue with the process of normalising relations [...]
It is important to overcome rhetoric that claims Pristina is negotiating dictated by someone else. This dialogue is important for Serbia's future, and Belgrade needs a way out of the dialogue it has declared “Politio”, Periscopi broadcast.
Asked whether this road means recognising Kosovo's independence, he says this is not necessary.
“I don't believe that now or in the near future someone wants Serbia to recognise an independent Kosovo. However, it is important to continue with the process of normalising relations, and I repeat again not because someone is looking for it, but because it is in Serbia's best interest, ” he declared.
According to him, Western Balkan countries have a European perspective and it is realistic to expect Serbia and Montenegro to enter the EU relatively soon.
However, he adds, it is better for Serbia to be in the society of states within which there is more solidarity and opportunities for development and progress and where there are many benefits at the table.
I'm not saying that the EU is the perfect country, but I think it is a country where a country like Serbia should belong”, Ikionomidis has added away, Periscope reports./Perskopi/
