SDF Press Secretary Mehdi Cobgan for “Sputnik Turkey” has declared that a new military base of the United States is being built near the oil field in al-Omar, considered the largest oil deposits in Syria.
The United States of America is building a military base in the oil-rich Al Omar region located in Deir ez-Zor province. Because of security concerns, we cannot provide information about the surface of this new installation. There are construction machines working near the base, and security is provided by SDF forces,” he said.
Earlier, local media have also reported about an American helicopter operating on this region, reports “Sputnik International” Transmission Periscope.
The coalition led by the United States has launched an air campaign against Daesh in 2014, followed by an extension in northern East regions of Syria.
Damascus has repeatedly criticised the military intervention of the United States, stressing that American forces were never invited by President Bashar Assad's internationally recognised government./Periscopi/
