No matter how negative your opinion may be about Ilir Meta's political career, you cannot fail to give the current president the right reason for his stance on the deal with Greece.

Meta has appeared today at a press conference calling for “full transparency”. Previously, he has also published in the media a letter in which he has requested more information about the people who will negotiate, the method they will follow, and the object they will consider.

So by his public stand, the president has taken sides in a debate that has been taking place for days.

On one side is the government side that has put some arguments on the market. According to them, the president should give, not full might, but just authorization. According to them, the president will then have other opportunities to control the process. According to them, Ilir Meta, as a real political animal, is demanding more personal protagonism on this important issue.

Therefore, they claim, Meta must sign on a white letter and not disrupt the holiday of reconciliation that Rama and Tsipras have agreed to.
On the other hand, Ilir Meta relies on the 2010 Constitutional Court's decision, which gives a key role to the president of the Republic during international negotiations.
Thus, regardless of the legal or constitutional poems they get caught, regardless of whether they are based on court decisions or on laws voted during the Socialist powers, the parties are divided between two larger concepts.

The government's arm says: give us permission, we, a closed fist and occult people unknown to the public, decide how we will split the 3 million Albanian border.
The presidency's arm requires control, credibility, transparency and integrity of people to negotiate.

In the historical plan, Ilir Meta is right. Should we return to the near past, the Berisha- Karamanlis agreement for the sea, we have drawn a big conclusion from it. In negotiations that are conducted without control and secrecy, it can be mistaken. The evidence is already clear. The cables of the American Embassy sent to Washington have proved to us that they were held under pressure from Athens to prevent Albania's integration. The negotiators have denounced (see Wikipedias below) in front of Western diplomats that they were condemned to conduct talks in secret by great powers. But they have testified that the Albanian side has obediently applied what Athens asked for.

So it would be enough for this experience not to repeat past mistakes and leave this process as monopolies of a handful of people.

Let's be clear, nor is Sali Berisha the traitor drawing some and intended to sell our waters to Greece. Of course, neither Eddy Rama can be considered the same.

But after all, they are politicians who act on short-term interests and maneuvers that give them immediate effects, so the law and the constitution have envisioned them to be controlled when they sign international agreements with scores of years or more effects.

It is in this transparency and control that Ilir Meta is also insisting on the logic of Eddie Rama, who is repeating the election refrain: “I want the table whole and only”.

And here Meta is right, because neither the sea nor the borders are like concessions, towers, or intensaries that can be left at the mercy of the casssis of an unfathomable glut.
