Goran Radosavljevic, former commander of the Serbian Gendarmerie, declared for the Balkan Radio Service Free Europe that “does not care, nor does he care, neither is he affected by the State Department's decision to ban access to the United States due to involvement in the murder of American citizens, Bytyci brothers.

“I don't want to respond to such news, as neither I care nor does it affect such a decision” said Radosavljevic.

In his statement about Free Europe, he ruled out any responsibility for killing the Bytyci brothers.

I have issued a statement on the investigative bodies, thousands of times I've talked about it, so it doesn't make sense to talk about it in” he said.

The United States has said it will impose sanctions on a former Serbian police official who served as commander of a camp, where three Bytyci brothers were killed during the 1999 Kosovo war.

The US State Department said on December 18th that Goran Radosavljevic was “included” in the murder of the Bytyci brothers, and so will Radosavljevic's wife and daughter.

This section of American law allows the U.S. Secretary of State to prohibit US entry, foreign officials and their family from having “reliable information that they were involved in corruption or in cases where human rights were abused”.

The murder of Ilir, Mehmet and Agron Bytyci in 1999 has been a key point for US-Serbia relations as Belgrade seeks to integrate faster with Western countries.

The Bytyci brothers have been American citizens, and Washington has repeatedly sought justice for them.

Their lifeless bodies were found in June 2001 at a mass cemetery in Petrovo Selo in Serbia.

In 2012, a Serbian war crimes court has released two former police officials for their involvement in these murders, with the reasoning of insufficient evidence.
