The election of Valon Tollaj to the head of the Kosovar Privatisation Agency has been made without the British Embassy's éisa in Kosovo. The Kosovo government has not included the embassy in the project at all with the election of AKP director Valon Tollaj, former AAK official. That despite the fact that the government and the Embassy have a memorandum of co-operation for the job.
The Economic Bulletin has secured the letter that the British Embassy has sent to several Parliament deputies, who are part of the Economic Development Commission, informing them of the violations that have been committed.
“against our official request sent to the Government, the Parliament and the AKP, the appointment process in these positions is done without the involvement of our” project, the British Embassy's letter to MPs said.
In addition to the position of AKP Board chairman and another member, the position of Director Management is mentioned, this position in which Valon Tolaj, former official of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, was elected.
The next meeting of the Economic Development Commission, to be held on Monday, December 10th, the 4th of the agenda is: reviewing the government's decision to appoint AKP Board members. Now, as for information, we suggest that these positions, as well as the position of Director Manager, have been on the list of positions agreed between the Government, the Parliament and the British Embassy, before being recruited with the help of the implementing partner”, it says on paper.
The Economic Bulletin has also secured the list of institutions involved in surveillance by the British Embassy, including the Kosovo Privatisation Agency.
Otherwise, this is not the first case the Government of Kosovo violates its memorandum with the British. Had just taken over the post of prime minister, Ramush Haradinaj had appeared publicly last year's October 10th with British Ambassador Ruairi O'Connell. Both are placed in a memorandum of understanding by which the Embassy would assist in recruiting creditable people on board public enterprises.
However, shortly before this signing took place, the Government of Kosovo testified that the British call to oversee the process had not been sincere at all. The idea of a memorandum with the British, who provided half a million euros, was not respected in almost no case by the partner, the Government of Kosovo.
The embassy's exclusion from the Trepca board's selection and political selection of secretaries to MTI and MART, as well as the selection of two political members on the ZRE Board, are just some of the main violations. Also, without announcing the embassy, the government had prosecuted with the Commission for Proving Jurisprudence, the Kosovo Pension Trust, Central Bank Governor, Central Bank Board members and the Kosovo Privatisation Agency. /Economic Bulletin/
