President Hashim Thaci has met in the US, former US President George Bush.
He discovered what Bush said during this meeting:
In Dallas I met Kosovo's great friend of freedom and independence, President George Bush. At this warm and friendly meeting, we discussed all political developments in Kosovo and the region. Respect for the wonderful Bush family will be eternal for the Kosovo Albanians.
Together we took many memories from the past not far off, but our focus was on our country's present efforts to ensure a secure and peaceful future.
In the context of these efforts, we agreed that it is necessary to reach the final binding agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, which would mark the closure of the year-long conflict, mutual recognition and Kosovo's membership in the UN, NATO and the EU.
Granted, reaching this agreement is not easy. But President Bush gave me precious advice that I want to share with you.
You as leaders will not be reminded of populist decisions, but of the difficult and right decisions you make for your country and your people”.
Expressing the highest gratitude on behalf of Kosovo citizens, today I had the privilege of decorating President Bush with the Order of Independence for his contribution to Kosovo's freedom and independence. HTH
