A former German nurse has admitted to killing 100 patients, making him one of the biggest serial killers since the end of World War II. Niels Hoegel, 41-year-old, has testified to the murder of patients between the ages of 35 and 96 in two hospitals in northern Germany [...]
Niels Hoegel, 41-year-old, has testified to the murder of patients between the ages of 35 and 96 in two hospitals in northern Germany between 2000 and 2005.
Hoegel has been accused of giving his victims non-prescriptioned drugs, in a bid to show his skills to colleagues about the resurrection of dead patients and to remove boredom at work.
At the first court hearing in Oldenburg, Hoegel said the charge of murder is correct, Time broadcasts.
Close to 126 relatives of the victims have participated in the trial hearing, which is expected to last until May 2019, a court spokesman for CNN has said.
Hoegel has already been sentenced to prison for six counts, including murder and attempted murder.
These charges have prompted authorities to investigate hundreds of deaths and bodies of patients who have died in the clinics where he worked.
Earlier in 2018 he was charged with 97 murders.
Prosecutors have said that Hoegel has been aware that the drugs he was giving patients in Delmenhorst and Oldenburg hospitals could trigger heart attacks.
In earlier evidence, Hoegel had said that he felt euphoric when returning a patient to life and was ashamed when he failed for another time.
