October 24th is UN Day

The UN General Assembly in 1971 proposed that member states, on UN Day, mark it also as an official holiday. The charter under which the World Organization was established is signed on June 26, 1945, in San Francisco, as it entered into force on October 24 after the five permanent members of China ratified it. The charter, founded on June 26, 1945, was signed in San Francisco as it went into effect on October 24th after the five permanent members of China, France, the former Soviet Union, the United States, Great Britain and most of the countries were signed.
UN Day marks the anniversary of the United Nations Charter's entry into force in 1945.
