An unidentified American official, insisting on anonymity, told AP that CIA Director Gina Haspel is in Turkey to investigate the case of murdered Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
The US agency says Haspel's visit came a day after US President Donald Trump said he was not satisfied with explaining Saudi Arabia's death for Khahoggi three weeks ago at the consulate of that kingdom in Istanbul.
Saudi officials said 59-year-old “Washington Post” was killed inside the consulate after a clash.
Turkey's President Recep Tayip Erdogan said he wants a group of 18 suspects arrested in Saudi Arabia tried in Turkish courts.
British television Sky New reported earlier, citing unidentified sources, that Khashoggi's body was found in the garden of the Saudi Consul's residence in Istanbul and that it was “crushed” and that his face was disfigured”.
