(8 years ago)One person has been killed and two others have been injured in Sri Lanka's capital, Colombo, when a government minister's bodyguard, led by the prime minister, Ranil Wickresinghe, opened fire on a population of protesters. The shooting occurred amid a constitutional crisis which came after the prime minister and cabinet [...] were fired.

Ruwan Gunasekara, a police spokesman, told reporters that an oil minister's bodyguard, Arjuna Rannatunga, expelled faithful people of President Sirius, when they tried to stop the fired minister from entering his office.
A 34-year-old was killed in the incident, according to police reports Al Jazeera.
The man who opened the fire was arrested and an investigation is under way, police said.
Gun shooting is the first incident of serious violence I promised when President Sirius decided to replace Prime Minister Wickreminghe with Mahinda Rajapasa a former president accused of human rights abuse and corruption.
