Steve took the civil service test. FDNY when he was 18, and worked as a fireman in downtown Manhattan in the 1980s.
At that time, he said: “was a privilege to do such a thing”.
It was wonderful to connect with the firemen I worked with and with some of the guys I worked with”, he added.

In 1976, Steve Buscemi received a civil service test FDNY when he was only 18. In 1980 Steve Buscemi became a New York City fireman.
“After September 11, 2001 ... brother Buscemi returned to FDNY Engine 55. On September 12, 2001, and for several days after Brother Steve worked a 12-hour shift along with other firemen who dug and sprinkled through the ruins of the World Trade Centre in search of survivors”, the organisation of firefighters announced.



During the attacks on September 11, 343 firefighters gave their lives protecting and saving others.
