Kosovo Foreign Minister Behgjet Pacolli, the first deputy prime minister at the same time, has met this week in New York, within the United Nations Organisation General Assembly, with his Malaysian counterpart, Srdjan Darnovolic.
The main topic of discussion between Pacolli and Darnovoqi has been the border demarcation agreement between Kosovo and Montenegro.
But, Montenegro appears not to have agreed to reconsider the current border demarcation agreement with Kosovo, which it has already approved in its country.
Our foreign minister, Behgjet Pacolli, has met with Montenegro's foreign minister, but now this is not an interstate issue, is the chief decision of Kosovo institutions, so the responsibility is Kosovo's”, Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has said in an interview for the Voice of America.
Thaci has added that the “border issue with Montenegro is vital and must be passed to the Kosovo Parliament”. He has stressed that during meetings the head of the European Commission, Donald Tusk, and with the European Union's foreign policy chief, Federica Moghrini, it has become clear that the <x2nd> position of the European Union is unique and clear; without ratification of the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro, there will be no visa liberalisation for Kosovo citizens”.
The Kosovo president has called on the political spectrum in the country to get together and overcome the issue of demarcation, so that citizens can enable free movement in all EU countries.
We don't have time to waste and re-increasing even now it requires that we all come together and go through this process and end the unjust isolation that is happening to Kosovo citizens”, Thaci has indicated.
