President Trump's disturbing threat Tuesday targeting North Korea was reckless and unnecessary. At its core, it resembled nothing less than the regular threats of Kim Jong Un against the United States, furious and hyperbolic. Why does the president of the most powerful nation in the world want to land at that level?
At an event at his golf club in New Jersey, Mr. Trump stated, the North North Central “will no longer pose threats against the United States. They will face fire and rage and with real force, similar to anything this world has seen before. ”
To raise the spectrum of nuclear war by doing so to avoid simple threats, it is like drawing a red line in the worst and destabilizing way.
