Serbian Sociologist: Vuciq has not clarified what he expects from Kosovo “internal dialogue”

Serbian Sociologist Vesna Pesic, former head of the Civic Alliance, in a statement to the newspaper “Danas” of Belgrade, said it is still not clear what the trigger is and what the purpose of the warned dialogue is, who are the actors, while considering that a common stand (in Serbia) cannot be achieved about Kosovo. [...]
“President Vuciq must come first with the clearly formulated idea of what the purpose of the Kosovo talks is, and not the last, as he has warned. He should clarify his views on this subject, offer the platform that would contain different variants, and explain the consistencys of the selection we would make. Only then can we open up public debate. I'm interested in what obligations Vuciq receives by opening the debate. All of this seems to me in a common mess as well as in situations like many times ago. I think he's going to forget this story in 15 days,”, said Pesich, broadcast time.net.
According to her, the position of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) is well known, but has been commemorated under the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia the church dares not get involved in state affairs.
The interests of citizens and of the state, not the interests of the Church”, have been expressed as sociologist.
Milovan Drescu, SNS deputy and head of the Council for Kosovo and Metohija in Serbia's Parliament, considers the decision on dialogue to be reached and politically rational, that Serbia's international position is now favourable for resolving this sensitive issue, and the decision to approach Kosovo should be taken in the state's organs, not church.
“It is our interest to resolve Kosovo's problem and relations with Albanians”, Drescu has indicated, questioned whether President Vuciq's initiative for internal dialogue can connect with Serbia's conditioning on its path to the European Union with recognition of Kosovo's independence.
