Hundreds of naked Finnishs dive into the water to break world record (Photo)

While Finland most frequently stirs up the thoughts of steam baths and walks in dense forests of wood, Finnishs are also prone to other earthly pleasures. Last weekend, hundreds of Finnishs gathered in the town of Joensu to break the world record for the largest number of naked people. Organisers [...]
Organisers of this event confirmed the number of 789 naked swimmers who were introduced into the cold waters of Linnunlahti Bay, which successfully exceeded the previous record that three Australians had held, reports Finnish national broadcaster “YLE”, broadcast Periscopi.
The event was announced several weeks ago as a challenge for supporters of the festival of folk music “Ilosarrock” to mark Finland's centennial, which is celebrated nationwide.
The original goal was to gather 1,000 weak divers (a thousand green hats), although that exact number of 789 was not yet reached. Before the planned fall, things did not look well, as very few people were off the hook. But everything was fine when the sun came at the right moment, and it inspired the crowd to jump into the water.
Divers had to stay in the water for at least five minutes to break the previous record that was set on the southern beach of “Perth” on March 8, 2015, Periscope reports.

Also, after they experienced contact with water, they began to cheer on Finland's national anthem so that the festival would be more special.
Previously, Finland has made two unsuccessful attempts to break the world record to make a collective effort to attract naked swimming fans. The “Ilosararirock” festival is an annual rock festival, which is held in Joensou's second weekend in eastern Finland. Founded in 1971, Ilosaarirock is the second oldest festival in Finland, still active, and one of the oldest in Europe, gathering tens of thousands of visitors./Periscopi/
