Mitrovica's northern municipality chairman, Goran Rakiq, has reiterated that the Ibër Bridge will not be opened and jobs will not resume without guarantees for citizens' safety.
According to him, things will resume in the revising of the bridge and of the “King Peter I”, when there is security for citizens.
But, Rakiq has later indicated that the start of the bridge re-vilitation work will begin when construction companies committed to the reconstruction of the bridge and the pedestrian zone in the northern part of Tė settle their differences.
“The opening of the bridge is no longer a political issue, but a technical issue about which companies that are working on revising the bridge should be informed. What we care about and what we're worried about is the safety of the citizens. That's what we'll always be looking for, and this attitude won't shake us and nothing”, he said.
