Two Albanians of Albania who faked Kosovo refugees have won the war with the Supreme Court, preventing their deportation.
Thousands of others can now be allowed to stay in Britain even if they committed serious crimes, reports the Sun”.
At least 80,000 refugees from Kosovo fled their homeland and went to Britain in 1999. But with thousands of Albania's Albanians, including murderers, used the crisis as a cover for asylum, Time.net broadcasts.
One of them, Deany Hysey, 40, was allowed to stay in Britain in 1999, and in 2011 he was imprisoned for five years after hitting another person with bottles of glass at a bar in Hemel Hempstad, Herts.
Another, Agron Bakijas, 44, was discovered in 2007 when his partner returned to Albania. But he reapplied using forged documents and was granted British citizenship.
The Interior Ministry (Home Secretary) ordered the two to be deported after their lies were exposed, but they took their case to the Supreme Court.
Their public lawyers succeeded in arguing that the lie to gain citizenship is not enough to deny them this right.
The judges decided that “was not clear when using false identity to gain citizenship from one person could lead to adulation”.
In their decision, they said: “in current cases, none of the citizenship seekers claimed to be someone who was not”.
This judgment will likely be used for many similar cases.
Both will also be paid by taxpayers, as the case is learned to cost 1 million pounds.
The Interior Ministry said that “will now see other” trails.
