Vuciq shakes hands with Russian Federation chairman, talking about military co-operation

President Vuciq stressed that Serbia is committed to further developing political relations with the Russian Federation, on the basis of strategic partnership and the will of both sides to deepen them in all areas.
He thanked the Russian Federation for its solid and consistent support of Serbia's territorial integrity and sovereignty and efforts to resolve the Kosovo issue by peaceful and diplomatic means, through dialogue, reports “Vestinet”, Periscopi broadcast.
The Serbian president said Serbia is neutral with regard to military positions, that it will maintain its neutrality, and that Serbia is on the European road, but it is not and will not impose sanctions against Russia.
He expressed his gratitude that Russian Federation supported Serbia's interests in U NESTO, United Nations and other international organisations and forums.
President Vuciq stressed that the Russian Federation is one of the strategic, economic and foreign trade leaders of the Republic of Serbia.
“In the coming period, Serbia will draw attention to strengthening economic co-operation with Russia in line with the Free Trade Agreement,” said President Vuciq and expressed its intention to improve and strengthen existing co-operation in the field of energy, agriculture, telecommunications and other areas.
The topic of discussion was the co-operation of the two countries in the military-technical field, while President Vuciq thanked the Russian side for a good deal in the form of procurement of military equipment, which enables the Republic of Serbia a long-awaited modernisation.
Federation Council President Matvienko stressed that the Russian Federation highly values Serbia's policy and independent readiness for co-operation with Russia.
“Trust is bilateral”, Matvienko concluded. It conveyed the greetings of President Putin and his expectations that Serbia and the Russian Federation will continue to build relations between the two countries during President Vuciq's visit to Moscow./Periscopi/
