Regarding the recent decision by the Court of Appeals, with which the Orthodox Church in Kosovo's university campus exceeds 4 hectares around the illegal activities of the years, the University of Pristina Steering Council has also reacted.

In a media report, the Steering Council and the Student Parliament are said to be deeply committed to meeting all legal steps for the return of property illegally usurped by the Serbian Orthodox Church in possession and in the service of UP students.

Last week's interpretation The UP has given up the legal battle for property that has usurped the Orthodox Church. We announce the opinion that based on current legislation, the Constitutional Court of C.n. 2444/12, is of procedural nature, rather than a merit/final decision related to the UP's request for the return of property occupied by the Serbian Orthodox Church”, it is said in the announcement of the Steering Council, signed by the leader Prof. Dr. Salihu Ismet.

In this judicial situation, The MP under the Law will initiate indictments for the return of property confiscated by the Serbian Orthodox Church. The Steering Council has formed a Task Force tasked with ensuring that institutions support the issue on legal grounds until the final return of this property to the use of its students”, it is further said in this statement.

In the meantime, the Steering Council is seeking from Pristina's Municipal Framework since the pipeline of property legislation and its decision-making procedures replay the decision of the former Pristina KK Executive Council No. 110-74/90-02 of the 2609.1990 with which it illegally provided land for the construction of the Orthodox Church building. The controversial property given to the Orthodox Church, which is consistently opposed by the UPI, is the property of the Pristina municipality, while The UP is a user of it.

“Decision depowering would greatly alleviate the legal problem and restore property in the use of UP's emergency needs, for space and infrastructure”.
