The Gendarmerie of the Republic of Kosovo is under way.

As Minister of Internal Affairs today I have signed the establishment of a working group that will do the analysis and proposal of modalities for the functioning of the Republic of Kosovo's Gendarmerie, as the Ministry of Internal Affairs Agency.

Gendarmerie represents an important step in consolidating our security architecture, with clear missions to ensure powerful state presence in the function of border preservation, integrity and territorial sovereignty, protection from terrorism, managing high-risk riots and protecting critical infrastructure.

The Gendarmerie of the Republic of Kosovo will significantly strengthen the state's capacity for prevention, management and neutralisation of threats affecting the safety of the citizens and the territorial integrity of our country.
