“No MP represents us” Albania's protesters towards creating “Civic Convention” with 500-600 members

Protesters who have gathered before the prime minister for weeks are taking steps to create a civic Parliament -- a structure that, according to them, will represent the voice of citizens, as they believe none of the Parliament's deputies represent them anymore.
Activist Ilir Xhemalaj announced that the Assembly will consist of about 500-600 members, selected by groups and currents that have become part of the protest.
According to him, it is a political framework, which is not intended to create a political force, but to serve as a civic forum for drawing up ideas and platforms of what protesters call “New Albania”
Xhemalaj stressed that the main criteria for membership are that participants have not held high positions in government or opposition and are not tarnished with corruption or tenders.
He also underlined that the current Assembly does not represent protesters, calling them delegate, while adding that the initiative will not include even deputies of new parties, as the goal is to create a completely citizen representation outside traditional politics. /Vna.al
