A Canadian ship passenger scores positive from intavirus

A Canadian who sailed the MV Hondius tourist ship, which was hit by an outbreak of hantavirus in April, has proved positive to the disease, officials in the province of British Columbia say.
Individuals, one of four isolated persons on Vancouver Island after leaving the ship, had developed slight symptoms, BBC reported, broadcast Express newspaper.
The province's top health official said all four people had had no contact with the public since arriving in Canada.
This case brings the total number of infections to 11. All among passengers of the tourist ship. Three people who traveled aboard died, with two confirmed having the virus.
British Columbia Health Officer Bonnie Henry said the person's test proved positive Friday, which means it remains to be confirmed by a national microbiology lab.
It is clear that this is not what we hoped for, but it is what we planned”, she said, quoted by national broadcaster CBC.
I would like to stress that the hantavirus is a virus very different from other respiratory viruses that we're dealing with as Cavid, such as the flu, and remains a virus that we don't consider to have any potential pandemic,” added Dr Henry.
